Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
