Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's biological sex.
Their complaint states that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
