Meanwhile, around one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both areas.
